About Rack Rates
The published list prices of compute, archived daily. Every change on record. Rack Rates keeps a dated, diffed record of what VPS plans, GPU hours, LLM tokens, inference hosts and media models are listed at, read from each provider's own price page or API, so the price of compute can be looked up, compared and cited.
Who runs Rack Rates?
Rack Rates is an independent publication. It is not owned by, paid by or affiliated with any provider it lists.
Why is it neutral?
Every price comes from the provider's own page or API and links back to it. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored rows and no paid placement; lists are sorted by provider and plan, and every cheapest-for-a-spec answer is sorted by price alone. Community datasets are labelled cross-checks, and when sources disagree both numbers are shown.
How is it funded?
Current prices and 90 days of history are free under CC BY 4.0. The planned paid tier is the full multi-year archive, bulk export, alerts and higher API limits. Payment buys access to history and volume, never a position, a label or inclusion in any table or index.
Are these the prices people actually pay?
No. They are list prices, as published by each provider, excluding VAT unless marked. Discounts, committed-use and reserved pricing, credits, enterprise contracts and spot deals are not in the list-price series. Read every series as the published price level, not as a transacted or settlement price.
How do I report a wrong number?
Use the contact on the methodology page with the SKU or series, the value you expect and a link to the provider's page. A correction becomes a new dated entry; the original snapshot stays visible.
Can I reuse the data?
Yes, under CC BY 4.0, including commercially: credit Rack Rates with a link to the page you used. The press page has the citation format and an embeddable index widget.
